Mexico’s Tax Administration Service (SAT) published an update on March 2, 2026 to the catalogs of the Digital Tax Receipt via Internet (CFDI) version 4.0.
These updates are part of the periodic adjustments made by the tax authority to ensure the proper validation of information in the electronic tax receipts used by companies in Mexico.
For organizations that issue CFDIs, it is important to be aware of these changes in order to ensure tax compliance and avoid errors in electronic invoicing.
What changes did the SAT make to the CFDI 4.0 catalogs?
In this update, the SAT modified records related to the c_NumPedimentoAduana catalog, which contains information associated with customs operations.
It is important to highlight that:
- No changes were made to the XSD schemas of the catalogs.
- The updates correspond only to modifications of records within the existing catalogs.

When do these changes take effect?
The modifications published by the SAT take effect as of March 2, 2026.
For this reason, companies that generate CFDIs must ensure that their invoicing systems and ERP solutions include the updated catalogs to avoid inconsistencies when issuing electronic tax receipts.
The Importance of Keeping Invoicing Systems Updated
Changes in tax catalogs, although they may appear minor, can lead to validation errors in CFDIs if systems are not updated correctly.
Having technological solutions that incorporate these updates in a timely manner allows companies to:
- Ensure tax compliance
- Reduce errors in electronic invoicing
- Maintain accounting and tax processes aligned with current regulations
