The Ministry of Finance (MH) of Costa Rica has published the official list of 196 taxpayers who have received special extensions to continue issuing electronic invoices in version 4.3, even after the mandatory adoption date of version 4.4, which began this week.
These extensions reflect the MH’s commitment to ensuring an orderly transition to the new version, taking into account the technical and operational adjustments that companies must implement to comply with the updated requirements.
What does version 4.4 entail?
Version 4.4 of electronic invoices introduces significant changes in document structure and validations, including:
-
Additional mandatory fields to ensure fiscal traceability.
-
Stricter validations for customer and product data.
-
Adjustments in the issuance and reception of electronic invoices that directly impact accounting and billing processes.
Duration of the extensions
The extension period is customized for each taxpayer, with the longest deadline set for October 5, 2025. This provides additional time to adjust systems, train teams, and ensure a smooth and successful adoption of version 4.4.
