Blog final uruguay

Uruguay’s Dirección General Impositiva (DGI) announced an important update to the validation enforcement timeline for versions 25 and 25.1 of the CFE format.

With this change, the start date for enforcing validations in zones F (Reference Information) and K (Fiscal Complement) has been adjusted, while the remaining validations will continue according to the previously established schedule.

Key Dates

March 3, 2026
New fields, values, and validations for zones A, B, C, D, E, and G will go live in production, along with updates to the printed representation format.

April 15, 2026
Mandatory enforcement of validations for zones F and K begins.

This adjustment gives companies additional time to adapt their systems and ensure compliance before full enforcement.

Validations Enforced Starting April 15, 2026

Zone F – Reference Information

New rules and fields are introduced to improve traceability of referenced CFEs, including:

  • Global reference indicator (F-C2)
  • New validations for reference CFE type, series, and number (F-C3, F-C4, F-C5)
  • Reference CFE amount field with defined limits (F-C8)
  • New currency and exchange rate fields (F-C9 and F-C10)
  • Reference reason (F-C6)

Zone K – Fiscal Complement

Controls over issuer and principal information are strengthened, including:

  • Issuer RUC validations (K-C1)
  • Consistency checks for the principal’s document (K-C4)
  • Mandatory principal name or legal denomination (K-C5)

Validations Effective March 3, 2026

From this date, systems must report and process the new fields and structures in production for the following zones:

Zone A – Header

  • New rules for document series
  • Mandatory field validations (issuer name, address, city, department)
  • Inclusion of the “Principal Export” sales modality
  • Length adjustments in descriptive fields

Zone B – Item Details

  • Mandatory validation for item name and unit of measure

Zones C, D, and E – Descriptions

  • Field length extended to ALFA 100

Zone G – CAE

  • Consistency checks for CAE number, range, and required data

Printed Representation

  • New tax legends (e.g., Monotributo and Monotributo Social MIDES)
  • Updates for exports and VAT compliance statement

What Does This Mean for Companies?

This regulatory update reinforces the need to:

  • Review e-invoicing integrations
  • Update validations and data structures
  • Perform testing before enforcement dates
  • Ensure consistency in tax and reference information

Adopting these changes early will help avoid document rejections and potential operational disruptions.
